{little punk}

K aka "little punk" was such a delight to work with yesterday afternoon.  :)
Her mommy and her recently took a trip down south and found these darling mismatched socks at a fabulous little store!  I think they are so darn cute!  Why didn't they have things like this when we were kids?!?

Here are a few of my fav from our session together.  As always, thanks so much K for being such a great little model!  You rock, and I love your style!

Back to the session, it was a bit chilly....but she didn't mind.
I have had this 50 mm lens that I have rarely used and spent way to much  money to just let it collect dust in the bottom of my camera bag...
so I pulled out that lens and forced myself to only use that lens during our session.
I found out quite a bit about myself as well as the lens yesterday!
I have often used it at weddings, or my second shooter has used it as a back up...
but I have RARELY used it during a session.
There isn't anything wrong with it, it is a fabulous lens...
but you have to force yourself into another comfort zone using it!

I am so use to my ultimate favs the  70-200  or my 24-70  where I GET TO STAY PUT and zoom...
so being forced to move around my subject constantly to get the right distance was
a nice change for me.  I am slowly falling in love with this one as well....SLOWLY
So I am going to give her (the 50 lens) a second try this Sunday!
I wish her luck :)

{got me thinking}

What kind of results are you getting in your life? Are you preparing for a powerful work of God? He is extremely creative, friends!! Get into the habit of "throwing off everything that hinders"
His power in your life.

Hmmm.  This is what one of my fellow blog world friends had posted online a few days back.  It got me thinking.
and thinking.
and thinking some more!

{inspiration}

Where do I find inspiration?

I find inspiration from people.
I love to people watch.
To observe their love language.
I find inspiration from LOVE.
I find it in texture.
In living things.
I find it in emotion.

When I am capturing the love between people,
I am not thinking of everything else I need to do, want to do, or plan to do.
I simply am zoned into the moment they are sharing.
I feed off their emotions.
their love
I capture not only what I see within my lens
but what I feel within my own heart.

Every single session I capture, I walk away being inspired!
Whether it is in life, love, happiness, or artistically.

I find inspiration in what evokes a feeling. an emotion. a moment. and a memory

I find it in God's beauty. grace. love

I find it in a glance, a giggle, an embrace.

I find it all around me.

Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.

{theme portraiture}

I am going to change things up a bit this morning and give a shout out to someone very special to me.  If you know me, my work etc.... you know I LOVE capturing lifestyle imagery that is here in the moment. I love the feeling that real life situations, moments, feelings give to a portrait.
BUT....did you know that I am totally in LOVE with babies and kids and think that fun themes are so pretty and artistic as well?!  I {heart} the whole Anne Geddes way of shooting photography.
I experienced it while I was learning/apprenticing and assisting.
Shooting in a REAL live STUDIO with lights, camera, action!
Where I discovered light.
I fell in love with it while I was shooting with the wonderful Mr. Briggs.
and then I went with my heart and followed lifestyle photography
which was an extreme fit with my HEART
BUT a part of my heart still belongs to PORTRAITURE for children
it is where it all started for me
Where I began
and I want to share this kind of photography with YOU!

There are so many different styles of photography.
It is ok to embrace them all for the beauty each possesses!

God Bless

{rainy day love}

I awoke to a beautiful rainy day!  The air smelled so fresh and clean and the sound of the gentle rain was amazing.  I could hardly contain myself when I lept out of bed lol.  The kiddos wanted to just keep sleeping.....gonna be a lazy crazy day!
But after awhile they quietly got up and started their day too.

Can I just say that I LOVE rainy days!  LOVE LOVE LOVE them.
I love to photograph in the rain
I love to play in the rain
I love to sleep when it rains
I love to work when it rains
I love to snuggle up with my lovies when it rains
I love to watch movies in bed when it rains

that is exactly what I am doing today...
I am not only inside (not feeling guilty of leaving today) catching up on house work
and portrait orders.

Enjoying a nice hot Chai when I realize that these beauties above are calling out to me for some attention!
What will a few minutes of playing around with the beautiful diffuser God gave me today, right?! SOOO I grabbed my Canon and shot a few images of my lovely Daughter's flowers...
they were a get well gift for her :)

and I had a few new portrait actions to play with today...

so that is exactly what I did...I played for a bit and now it is time to get back to work...but I am secretly hoping for another rainy day tomorrow...
such BLISS

I am in HEAVEN
